Lomé is the capital of Togo, a country just 370
miles long and 60 miles across at its widest
point. Situated on the Gulf of Bénin, Lomé is
the gateway to Africa's interior. It is also
known as the "Pearl of West Africa" and offers a glimpse into Africa's history and its cultural
diversity.
Day 15: Tema (for Accra), Ghana
Tema is Ghana's major port and your gateway
to Accra, the nation's capital. Europeans descended
on Ghana in the 15th century in
search of gold. The wealth of the slave trade
led them to stay, erecting forts along the Gulf
of Guinea and naming the region "The Gold
Coast." Today, Ghana is a fascinating destination,
a trip to the National Museum is highly
recommended as it is regarded as one of the
finest in sub-Saharan Africa.

Day 20: Dakar, Senegal
Senegal is a land of vast open plains dotted
with baobab trees that extend to the horizon.
Its history has been turbulent; contact with the
West destroyed the coastal kingdoms of West
Africa as English, French and Dutch adventurers
vied for control of the slave trade in the
16th century. Control of Senegal passed to the
French, who made Dakar the center of their
West African colonial empire.

welcomes you to 3,000 years of history and to
the nearby city of Seville, famed for its bullfights,
flamenco and flower-filled patios.
Day 31: Lisbon, Portugal
Situated on the north banks of the Tagus River
this charming city offers renovated palaces,
magnificent churches and an impressive
castle.
Days 32 & 33: At Sea
Days 34: Le Havre, France
The gateway to Northern France, from Le
Havre you will have easy access to Paris,
Etratat, Fecamp and Normandy.
